Found these interesting Peziza type mushrooms growing on the remains of a burnt down shed. (Slight mishap with a barbecue in the summer.) I was quite surprised, as I thought timber was usually treated with anti-fungal chemicals. Very difficult to pin down exactly what this is – there’s a few species that grow on burnt wood but they aren’t generally tan coloured. It looks more like Peziza petersii than Charcol Cup.

1. Peziza petersii.
Growing on burnt shed timber. Colour isn't quite right for Peziza petersii but closer than it is for Charcol Cup. ID is best guess.
